Canary District

Phase 2 - Canary Park Condos

Canary ParkThis winter, Canary District will begin construction as a portion of Phase Two in the extensive waterfront development of Toronto's new downtown east. Phase 2 will be developed directly across the street from the new 18-acre Don River Park offering peaceful views of the park's amenities.

Aptly named Canary Park Condos, phase 2 is scheduled for completion in 2016. The condos are priced between $200,000 to over $400,000. The exterior of the new condominiums be constructed in translucent glass, charcoal grey limestone, and steel. The ground floor will have floor-to-ceiling glass walls, lush greenery, an open atmosphere, and heritage décor. The residences will feature a shared party room and two inviting lobbies on the north and south sides.

Canary Park Toronto will have high quality contemporary suite interiors with nine-foot high ceilings. The latex paint finish is four-inch thick with matching wood baseboards and door trim. There will be engineered hardwood flooring in the halls, bedrooms, dining room, living room, and den. Residents of the new condominiums will have private stacked front-loading washer/dryers in every suite. The gourmet kitchens boast quartz countertop with tile backsplash, European style cabinetry, and stainless steel sink. The kitchens have full amenities, which include a dishwasher and fridge with paneled doors to match the kitchen cabinetry, slide in range, and stainless steel microwave. Additional features of the suites are the spa-inspired bathrooms, heating and air conditioning, and Internet.

The emerging community is the beginning of an urban renaissance that strives to pair livability with culture in a setting that maximizes green spaces. The development is conveniently placed on Front and Cherry Streets. The 18-acre Don River Park is also in the neighbourhood. The district will feature pedestrian routes, courtyards, terraces, laneways, retail shops, public art and dining.

The lively community extends down Front Street into a pedestrian promenade that connects Don River Park, Lake Ontario, the Distillery District and downtown Toronto. The design of the mixed-use development meets LEED Gold criteria. The district is a self-sufficient neighbourhood that exceeds Toronto's Mandatory Green Building requirements.

A talented and highly skilled team was brought together by Dundee Kilmer Developments to design and build LEED Gold community. The ingenious concept has been realized in a modern, sustainable, and functional neighbourhoood in downtown east.

The visionary architects who designed this project are Andrew Filarski, Renee Daoust, Bruce Kuwabara, and Peter Clewes. The design firms of Munge Leung, Bruce Mau, and LiveWorkLearnPlay also had a crucial hand in realizing the vision of this project.

Thus far, the extensive development has won several awards over the past two years. These awards include the 2012 Canadian Architect Award of Excellence and gold in the 2013 The Nationals Awards for Urban Community of the Year and the upcoming Canary Park condos will not disappoint.
